Chin Augmentation
About the procedure
This type of plastic intervention is an effective way to improve the facial contour and profile by using a specially selected in size and protection silicon implant.
How is the operation performed?
The operation is performed under general anesthesia and it usually takes about an hour. The procedure can be done in two ways – with an incision on the inside of the lower lip or with an incision on the outside under the chin. During your consultation, it will be discussed which of these ways is more appropriate for your case.
A small incision is made, after which the implant is placed and / or the already existing jawbone is altered in order to enhance the facial definition and improve the appearance of the chin. After the procedure, a facial support garment will be fitted to minimize swelling and bruising.

Frequently Asked Questions
Before the procedure
Your surgeon will give you detailed information for the preoperative preparation a few weeks prior to your plastic surgery.
The most important advice for smokers is to stop smoking for at least 2 weeks (or 4 weeks and even more, if possible). Smoking prevents healing and increases the risk of complications. You should not smoke until the wounds heal well, at least two weeks after surgery.
You should stop taking aspirin or medicine containing aspirin, anti inflammatory drugs and herbal supplements as they all increase the risk of bleeding. Your surgeon will advise you how long prior to the operation you should stop taking these medicines.
High blood pressure also needs to be well controlled during surgery. So if your blood pressure is elevated, you should discuss it with your surgeon.
It is extremely important to discuss your expectations with your plastic surgeon. This will allow him to assess whether they are achievable with the selected procedure. In some cases, two or three sessions may be needed to achieve the desired effect, and in others – it may be necessary to combine procedures for a better result.
You will be accompanied by an employee of ours to the clinic and where you are staying before and after the operation.
Aftercare and recovery
You should wear a compression bandage on your face for at least a week after surgery.
The recovery time depends on which method of surgery was performed on you and whether it is combined with another aesthetic procedure. All details will be discussed with your plastic surgeon. In general, you will need a week off from work. No strenuous physical activity is allowed for at least 2 weeks. Sports and workouts have to be avoided for 2-4 weeks. After the first 2 weeks, you will be able to start light aerobic exercises (walks outside or on the treadmill).
Bruising and swelling are something normal in the first few days. For faster recovery, you will need to avoid sleeping facing the pillow for the first 14 days.
Anything that can cause reddening of the face, such as sauna and steam baths, should be avoided.
Final results will be visible within 6 months after the procedure.
What are the risks?
All risks will be discussed with you during the consultation with your surgeon. Scarring is some of the potential ones, but in a minimum degree and with a great chance to become invisible over time and with proper treatment.
It is possible that you might experience loss of sensation, but in most cases it is temporary.
It is very rare for a chin implant to move or become dislodged after the procedure.
The most important thing is to follow all post-operative instructions for faster recovery given to you by your plastic surgeon.
When I can see the results?
You can see the results imediately after the procedure. They will be permanent. However your look will continue to change over the years. The tissue around the chin it’s going to be impacted by the aging process.
Do I have to wear a compression garment after the surgery?
Yes a facial support garment will be fitted after the surgery to minimise the swelling and reduce the your movement. You can wear it between 1 day and 1 week (day and night). You will be advised ahead of the surgery by your surgeon .
