Liposuction of anterior thighs
About the procedure
In this area, achieving optimal skin smoothing is much more important than maximum reduction. Removing more than 60% of subcutaneous fat tissue in the anterior thigh area is bringing high risks of obtaining unsatisfactory results. Excessive liposuction of the anterior thighs can lead to uneven skin formations.
Liposuction of the whole thigh area, conducted at once as a single procedure, is not recommended. Such procedures often lead to significant leg swellings. The risks of deep vein thrombosis and of associated pulmonary thromboembolism should never be underestimated. Therefore, liposuction of the thighs is much safer when it is planned as a series of consecutive procedures.

Frequently Asked Questions
CONSECUTIVE PROCEDURES
Consecutive liposuction procedure is the most preferred and advisable method for liposuction of the anterior thighs. Each procedure is conducted one or more months apart the previous one. Your doctor will plan and control the order in which to treat the thigh areas. Swelling of the legs is extremely rare in this procedure and the patient can return to work within a few days.
LEG SWELLING
The cause of leg swellings after liposuction of the entire thigh is damage to the lymph vessels which are located in fat tissue. One function of the lymph vessels is to eliminate the swelling from the traumatized area. When the whole thigh is treated, the swelling becomes large, the lymphatic network becomes damaged and cannot cope with the amount of swelling. Thus, the leg remains swollen for a longer period.
When only parts of the thighs are treated, the lymphatic system in the untreated areas will function well and thus it will ensure the drainage of the treated areas, which significantly reduces the recovery period.
